Our Story

We know the Pikes Peak region. We've had the honor of helping to build it for over a century.

The Beginning

El Paso Electric was founded in 1919 by Dudley Elkins Sr. in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In the early years, commercial electricity was still a frontier — a trade that demanded equal parts ingenuity and grit. Dudley built a company on the principle that electrical work is not just a technical exercise, but a craft. He passed that principle on through the decades and four generations of family owners.

El Paso Electric wired Colorado Springs as the city grew — from downtown storefronts to sprawling campuses, from churches to military installations, from neighborhood restaurants to corporate headquarters. The work changed, the codes evolved, the technology advanced. But our standard never wavered. Most recently, Justin and Melissa Dixon built their family company from 2004 to 2024.

A New Chapter

Seeking to keep the momentum going for their family legacy and the team they had assembled, they transitioned ownership to Chuck Dokmo in 2024. Chuck brings extensive business experience, technical background in engineering and technology, and a focus, drive, and resilience shaped from more than a decade of working in Special Operations aviation.

Chuck believes the best customer experiences stem from strong teams, systems, and processes that can perform under pressure and adapt to uncertainty and growth. He believes that success means taking responsibility — for the mission, for the team, for the outcome, and that healthy teams are better than any single high-performer.

Looking Forward

Today, El Paso Electric continues to serve general contractors, property managers, and commercial businesses across the Pikes Peak region and beyond. We are grateful to be a part of this city's legacy and excited to build its future!
